Students’ Achievements Celebrated in National Learning Network
“National Learning Network has given me the confidence to change my life for the better and allow me to develop new and worthwhile skills”. These are the words of Joshua Heery, a student in National Learning Network Mullingar speaking at an event recognising students’ achievements in the Annebrook Hotel on last Wednesday (27th May). Over 40 students were presented with their QQI (formally FETAC) certificates by singer and entertainer, Simon Casey.
The students were presented with certificates in a range of courses that support people to get a job, return to employment or go onto further education. In Mullingar, National Learning Network provides courses for 50 people. These courses include, Access to Employment, Employment Skills and Ar Aghaidh Linn, which is a social exploration course designed for students who have had a setback in their lives as a result of physical/sensory disability. National Learning Network also offers the Personal Employment Pathway programme (PEP), which is a free job-skills service which supports people in developing a progression plan and exploring new opportunities.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Simon Casey said, “It’s great to be here to celebrate with the students and to mark their brilliant achievements. I would like to congratulate each and every one of them and I wish them every success for the future. There is a world of possibilities out there for them. They have learned so many valuable skills while attending National Learning Network. ”
Gary O’Neil, Area Manager, National Learning Network in Mullingar, said “Today is a great day for all of the students who have worked so hard over the last 18 months. They have achieved so much and gained so much confidence in their courses. The staff here would like to congratulate all of the students on their fantastic achievements and wish them the best of luck in the next chapters of their lives.”
