This training programme is designed to offer learners an opportunity to explore personal, social and vocational skills and includes a high level of integration into the local community. Underpinning this programme is New Directions, a HSE person centred service for adults with disabilities. Modules on offer are delivered in a flexible manner and include activities and methods based on a cross modular approach. Module Codes M1 – M12 offer learners an opportunity to achieve QQI Level 3 Certification leading to a Major Award in Employability Skills (as appropriate).
Designed for those who would like
an opportunity to make a new
beginning & start a new career after a period out of the workforce. It provides an opportunity to explore
vocational opportunities in order to progress to further education
Employer Based Training enables learners to acquire vocational skills with a host company in the vocational area of their choice. The programme is a combination of on-the-job and in-centre training 60% on-the-job and 40% in-centre. The Employer Based Training Co-ordinator supports both the learner and the employer. Learners choose a vocational training area that interests and suits them and the Employer Based Training Co-ordinator finds a suitable Host Company training placement within the vocational area and locality identified by the learner.
The Business and IT course has been designed to give participants an opportunity to gain skills that will enable them to secure employment in an administrative capacity or to move on to third level education. Participants will work towards achieving a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Business. This may include the completion of the ECDL for those participants who do not already have one. Learners progress through the programme at a pace which is suited to their individual needs and abilities. Learners’ progress will be planned with each individual through the Individual Action Planning (IAP) and Monthly Review processes. Skills needed in the workplace are acquired through a combination of practical demonstration, instruction, supervised practice, etc.
